Jammu:
Quake relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction measures will be the focus of the week-long special session of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly beginning here on December 22, according to Speaker Tara Chand.
"Since the entire world has shown great concern over the killer quake that has taken many lives and rendered thousands homeless, matters relating to relief and rehabilitation of the affected people needs special deliberations in the Assembly," he said.
"Other Government business would also be taken up during the session," he said.
Chand, who recently visited the quake-pounded areas of Poonch district to take stock of relief and rehabilitation measures, said, "A fresh survey needs to be conducted to ensure that nobody goes without relief."
He had asked officials there to show missionary zeal while dealing with the affected people.
The Speaker lauded the role of the Army and NGOs, saying, "Whenever the country faced any challenge, whether it is a proxy war or natural calamity, our Army has shown exemplary courage."
