Volcker Issue: Lok Sabha adjourns for 30 minutes
Monday, December 5 2005 12:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Volcker report and the demand for Natwar Singh's resignation from the Union Cabinet rocked Lok Sabha today (Dec 5,2005) leading to its adjournment for half-an-hour.

Spotlight: Volcker Report

As soon as the House met, the BJP-led opposition was on its feet demanding resignation of Natwar Singh and raised slogans "Ab to yeh spasht hai, Sonia Gandhi Bhrasht hai (it is clear now that Sonia Gandhi is corrupt)".

Speaker Somnath Chatterjee tried in vain to pacify the members saying they could raise the issue during Zero Hour.

He appealed to senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani to allow the question hour but as the din continued, he adjourned the House for half-an-hour.
