Uma Bharti asks supporters to gift her BJP flags Tuesday, December 6 2005 18:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Raisen (MP):
In a display of strength to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership, expelled leader Uma Bharti today (Dec 6, 2005) asked her supporters to gift her party flags, instead of bouquets and garlands to extend support to her.
"From today, I will accept only party flags and not flowers or garlands," Bharti told reporters, in the midst of her Bhopal-Ayodhya march at Naktara village, around 30 km from here, even as the party had warned of action if the party flag was used during her yatra.
"The workers will present me crores of flags during my march to Ayodhya so that those in Delhi know who is the real BJP," the fiery sanyasin said, claiming to be in the process of sending a petition to BJP's disciplinary committee challenging its parliamentary board's decision to expel her indefinitely.
"Who says I am alone? Lakhs of party workers are with me. They are my strength," she said.
Claiming that her fight was based on principles and against those who have ruined BJP while taking decisions in drawing room meetings, she said she will not leave BJP.
Bharti said she would 'live and die' for the party.
