Cong attacks BJP-led Oppn for disrupting Parliament Tuesday, December 6 2005 17:33 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led opposition for continued disruption of Parliament, Congress today (Dec 06, 2005) said they are raking up the Volcker issue to divert the attention of the nation from their infightings.
"Opposition has no other issue (than Volcker report). For the first time in the history of Indian Parliament, we have an opposition, which do not want to fight on political issues. They are intensely embroiled in their internal fight", Chairman of AICC's media Department Ambika Soni told reporters.
She said the party had done many promises to the people but had failed to fulfill them. They have not forgotten their defeat in the 2004 Lok Sabha polls.
Another Party leader and Union Minister of state for Tourism, Renuka Chaudhury said their whole 'drama' was to sidetrack the nation's attention from December six.
"What was their role in Ayodhya (demolition of Babri Masjid). They are doing this drama (disrupting Parliament) to forget what happened on this day", she said.
Chaudhury said when Natwar Singh is talking about 'protocol, procedure and decency' to resign only after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's arrival in Delhi from Moscow, why are they not listening.
"If they are not aware of these things there was no protocol, procedure or decency in their regime (NDA). Why they are doing this drama. They have expelled Uma Bharti to divest the subject matter", she said.
BJP leader Mukhtar Naqvi described the Natwar Singh episode as 'drama' and said the real king of the Oil-for-food scandal was still playing the 'hide and seek game'.
He said party and its chief Sonia Gandhi should take responsibility in this regard and tender resignation as chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
