Sena would not be affected if a leader quits: Uddhav Tuesday, December 6 2005 20:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Even as sulking cousin Raj Thackeray is keeping his plans under wraps, Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray has gone on the offensive, saying the party would not be affected even if a leader quits.
"When some people quit, it does not mean that the Sena is finished," Uddhav told reporters at neighbouring Thane yesterday (Dec 6, 2005).
Uddhav's comments come amid media reports that Raj Thackeray, who quit all party posts on November 30, was not in a mood for compromise with the Sena leadership. The reports also suggest that he would float his own outfit soon.
Uddhav visited Thane to meet injured party workers who were assaulted by supporters of former Sena leader Narayan Rane, when they went to take possession of a Sena 'shakha' allegedly occupied by Rane supporters.
Uddhav said Rane's supporters had assaulted Sena workers by taking 'undue advantage of police support'.
"Let these people come without police support. Then we will show them what Shiv Sainiks are," Uddhav said.
