India's surface-to-air missile Akash test-fired again

Balasore: Second time in five days, Defence scientists test fired Akash, India's surface-to-air missile, from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, about 15 km from here today (Dec 07, 2005), Defence sources said.

The missile, which was test flown on December three last from the ITR, was fired from a mobile launcher at 1.40 pm.

Akash was targetted at a moving object attached to the Pilotless Target Aircraft (PTA) which was flown a few minutes earlier.
