On Board PM's Aircraft:
Maintaining that smooth functioning of Parliament was in everybody's interest, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Dec 7, 2005) attacked the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying it was indulging in the 'drama' of disrupting proceedings only to divert people's attention away from internal squabbles.
"That Parliament should function smoothly is in everybody's interest. But I have said this before that the principal opposition party. BJP is doing this drama to divert people's attention from the internal trouble it is facing," he told reporters on board the special aircraft while returning from Moscow.
"What is happening in the power struggle in Madhya Pradesh? Uma Bharati has been expelled and there is internal tussle for leadership," the Prime Minister said.
He said it was sad that party politics forces people to do anything which is not in the interest of the country.
