'Visit to Moscow a landmark in Indo-Russia relations'
Wednesday, December 7 2005 19:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived here today (Dec 07, 2005) after a 'landmark' three-day visit to Moscow during which Russia extended all help to India in meeting its energy needs, including civilian nuclear power.

"India-Russia relations is such that although this visit is a landmark, it is only one landmark in a long journey that the two countries will make together and which shall be of value and benefit to both," Singh told reporters on his way back from Moscow.

Singh and Russian President Vladimir Putin held Summit talks in which the two countries decided to move towards joint development of multi-purpose transport planes and fifth generation fighters.

The two countries signed three agreements, including on intellectual property rights for joint defence work and on cooperation in the field of solar physics.

The two leaders also discussed regional and international issues like UN reforms, Iran nuclear problem and global terrorism on which they had converging views.
