The proposed Aero engineering and Management Institute mooted by the Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI) will come up here by 2007, Dr C G Krishnadas Nair, President, SIATI, said here today (Dec 08, 2005).
The around Rs 20 crore multi-disciplinary institute will be "a De Novo University with requisite approvals from the UGCA and AICTE", he told reporters during Aerodrome India, the three-day international exhibition and seminar which began here yesterday.
The institute will have a 20-acre campus, with hostel facilities, Nair said, adding "we are looking at 3000 students at a time on campus".
"We will be working for international recognition of our courses which will include certificate, graduate and post-graduate courses and R & D", he said.
The faculty will be drawn from "experienced aerospace organisations here and abroad", Nair said.
The institute will have an advisory committee comprising personnel from Airlines, Air Traffic Control (ATC), Aerospace Industry and Tourism. There will also be an academic council consisting mainly of R & D experts, he said.
"We are looking at a technology driven institute of global standards yet very affordable. We will be churning out 1000-2000 trained manpower every year" Nair said.
