Afzal surrenders in Rai case; 14-day judicial custody

Ghazipur: Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari, an accused in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Krishnanad Rai's murder case, today (Dec 08, 2005) surrendered before a district court here which remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.

Afzal, brother of Mukhtar Ansari - controversial independent MLA from Mau, is the second accused to have surrendered in connection with the case.

Earlier, Mukhtar Ansari's brother-in-law Ejaz Ahmed had surrendered before the court.
