Chennai: Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates arrived here by a special aircraft from Delhi at around 12.00 noon on a two-day visit.

He was accompanied by his wife, Melinda gates, the co founder of the Bill and Melinda gates foundation.

On his arrival, he is understood to have visited the TB sanatorium at suburban Tambaram, where a vaccine is being developed to combat AIDS.

Gates will be meeting Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President M Karunanidhi this evening. He is also scheduled to meet Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Information Technology captains, along with communications and IT minister, Dayanidhi Maran tomorrow(Dec 9,2005).
