Jayendra Saraswati hearing adjourned till Dec 23 Friday, December 9 2005 17:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
A Sessions court today (December 9, 2005) adjourned to December 23 hearing in the Radhakrishnan assault case, in which Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi is the main accused.
The case was adjourned after the Seer's counsel sought it on the ground that a petition had been filed in the Madras High court seeking transfer of the case to a court in
Pondicherry, where the 'Sankararaman murder case' has already been transferred.
The Seer is the main accused in the murder case. When the case came up for hearing, the seer's counsel filed a petition under section 317 CRPC seeking to dispense with the Seer's presence in the court for the day, following which the first Additional Sessions Judge A R Selvakumar posted the case to December 23.
All the other 10 accused in the case including R Raghu, brother of Junior Seer Vijayendra Saraswathi and Mutt Manager Sunderesa Iyer were present in the court.
The case relates to the September 2002 assault of former mutt associate Radhakrishnan, his wife and his attendant.
