Sonia celebrates her b'day with quake survivors

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi turned 60 today(Dec 9,2005).

Spotlight: Earthquake in North India

Gandhi, who has decided not to celebrate her birthday, will spend the day visiting earthquake-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir, to empathize with the survivors.

Gandhi went to the state early in the morning, party sources said.

She is scheduled to visit quake-affected Poonch, Baramulla and Kupwara and will spend time with the affected families.

The party has decided not to organize any programmes on the occasion.

Earlier too, Gandhi had decided not to celebrate national festivals to express her solidarity with the quake victims.
