Karnataka to have its own film city by Dec 2006

Bangalore: Modelled on the lines of Ramoji Rao's film city in Hyderabad, Karnataka will have its own Rs 250 crore film city in Bidadi industrial area, 27 km away from Bangalore, by Dec 2006.

The "Innovative Film City" project coming up on 50 acres of land will be "fully operational" by Dec 2006, Sarvana Prasad, Managing Director, Innovative Multiplex, the man behind the dream project, told reporters today.

"The film city will have all the works, including of a film studio (with 6 mega studios), a film institute, production house, mock sets, IT park, wonder works, wax museum, Jurassic Park, haunted mansion, cartoon city and also Go-Karting, Aqua Kingdom and snow land with indoor skiing arena as part of the entertainment zone," he said.

The film city will have an amphitheatre with a seating capacity of over 15,000 people, parking facility for over 5,000 vehicles and also a retail area with a swank shopping arcade showcasing global brands 'let out on a revenue sharing basis.'

Apart from a mini-golf course and a multi-cuisine food court, the city will also house villas and apartments for the who's who of the film industry.

"We have tied up with Ripley's Believe It Or Not and Guinness Book of World Records on a revenue sharing basis to give the visitors the most exciting time of their lives," Prasad said.

The project which has been cleared by the High Level Committee headed by the Chief Minister will add to the tourism brand value of Bangalore, Tourism Minister D T Jayakumar who was present on the occasion said.
