First Amritsar-Lahore bus named as 'Punj-Aab'

Amritsar: The first Amritsar-Lahore bus, which crossed over to Pakistan through the land route of Indo-Pak Wagah Border for a trial run today has been named 'Punj-Aab', an official release said here today (Dec 11, 2005).

One-way fare for the 45-seater air-conditioned bus would be Rs 750 from Amritsar and Rs 900 in Pakistani currency while returning from Lahore, the release said.

The Punjab government would invest Rs 2.70 crore to buy four new buses, especially for the Amritsar-Lahore Bus Service, the release said adding presently the bus being used by the government for the service had been availed on lease basis from a private transport company.
