Proclamation notice pasted at Jaiprakash's home
Sunday, December 11 2005 16:09 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jamui (Bihar): After being declared an 'absconder' by the court, the police has pasted proclamation notice at the ancestral house of former Union minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav at Barhat in Jamui district, asking him to surrender within 30 days, police sources said.

After obtaining a proclamation notice from the court of CJM Ramesh Chandra Singh, investigating officer of the case Ramvijay Sharma and officer-in-charge of Barhat police station Kumar Abhinav reached the former minister's ancestral house 'Shanti Niketan' and pasted the notice at the main gate yesterday in the presence of his father Akhileshwar Yadav who is also Mukhiya of Barhat Panchayat.

The CJM had on Friday issued proclamation notice, a step prior to attachment of property, against former Union minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Jaiprakash Narain Yadav on whose criminal writ petition the Patna High Court had on the same day reserved its judgement.

Yadav, a close supporter of RJD president Lalu Prasad, is on the run despite issue of non-bailable warrant of arrest against him in a case charging him with misuse of authority to facilitate illegal escape of his brother and RJD candidate from Jamui in the just concluded Assembly polls Vijay Prakash.

Yadav, who was Union minister of state for water resources in the Manmohan Singh government, had to resign after issue of NBW against him on October 24 and rejection of his anticipatory bail four days later by a Jamui court. If the absconding former minister failed to give himself up within the 30 days, property attachment proceedings would be started against him by the court.
