New Delhi:
Mystery continues to shroud the role of Mohammad Rafiq Shah, an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba militant arrested in Jammu and Kashmir last month, in the October 29 Delhi serial blasts that left over 60 people dead.
Police suspect Rafiq, a college student, was the one of the three bombers who had triggered the deadly blasts.
However, Joint Commissioner of Police Karnal Singh, who is heading the probe into the blasts, told sources when contact, "I neither confirm nor deny the reports".
Police have been trying to match the sketch they had released of the suspected bombers with Rafiq who was arrested on November 21.
Police also made attempts to carry out a test identification parade for him but were unsuccessful as the accused refused to take the test.
Police suspect Rafiq is a trained suicide bomber and had travelled to Pakistan on numerous occasions.
The 23-year-old post graduate student was arrested after a tip-off from Tariq Ahmed Dar who police suspect to be the chief conspirator, coordinator, financier and facilitator of the Delhi blasts.
Besides Dar and Rafiq, police arrested Mohammad Hussain Fazli and Ghulam Mohammad Khan in connection with the Delhi blasts.
LeT militants Abu Huzefa and Abu al-Qama, suspected to have played a key role in the blasts, are yet to be arrested.
Dar, also arrested from Jammu and Kashmir, was working with a leading pharma company and also contributed articles to Mount Valley magazine in the state.
