Abu Salem aide likely to arrive in Mumbai today Monday, December 12 2005 12:18 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Naeem Khan, an aide of extradited gangster Abu Salem, is likely to return from Dubai today (Dec 12, 2005), and will be arrested by Anti-Terrorist Squad of Mumbai Police, who wants to question him in connection with the Pradeep Jain murder case.
Earlier, ATS special public prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikam had confirmed to sources that Naeem had arrived and was arrested by the ATS. But subsequently, he corrected himself, stating that Naeem was yet to arrive.
ATS Joint Police Commissioner, P S Raghuvanshi also told sources that he has no information regarding Naeem's arrival in Mumbai. Other ATS officials have also denied knowledge of Naeem's arrival.
Naeem Khan, an aide of Abu Salem, allegedly used to run the extortion business on behalf of Salem from Dubai. In the Pradeep Jain murder case, for which Salem is shown as being the prime accused, it is alleged that Naeem had allegedly acted as a mediator for Salem.
Naeem, who has been staying at Dubai for several years, yesterday in a conversation to a local newspaper from Dubai, denied his role in the Jain murder case and said he would visit Mumbai on Monday to present himself before police.
Pradeep Jain, a builder from suburban Andheri, was shot dead by assailants in 1995, after he allegedly refused to give in to Salem's pressure, who wanted Jain to sell a piece of land to another builder at a nominal rate.
