Banerjee panel probing SE train fire gets extension

New Delhi: The Government has extended the tenure of the Justice U C Banerjee Committee probing the 2002 Sabarmati Express fire at Godhra station in Gujarat.

Spotlight: Godhra-Chilling stories of the victims

The Committee has been given three more months beyond December 4, 2005 deadline, an official statement said today (Dec 13, 2005).

The panel was constituted by the Ministry of Railways on September 4, 2004 to go into the burning of S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express at Godhra station on February 28, 2002.

This is the fifth extension given to the Committee.
