Veteran film maker Ramanand Sagar died of old age at his Juhu residence here last night (Dec 12, 2005), family sources said.
Eighty-seven-year old Sagar, had been unwell since past two-three months, his son Prem Sagar told sources.
Sagar, who directed and produced the longest running mythological television serial 'Ramayana' besides several movies, is survived by wife, five sons and a daughter.
Sagar, who was at present busy with his television serial 'Sai Baba', produced, directed and wrote scripts of as many as 50 films. His first production 'Mehman', featuring Prem Nath, came out in 1950.
Other hits include 'Insaniyat', 'Kohinoor', 'Pegaam', 'Aankhen', 'Lalkar', 'Aarzoo', 'Jeet' and 'Bagavat'.
