ATS arrest Salem aides in Pradeep Jain murder case Tuesday, December 13 2005 11:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
In a major breakthrough in the 1995 murder case of builder Pradeep Jain, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of city police yesterday (Dec 12, 2005) arrested two aides of extradited gangster Abu Salem after the latter spilled the beans during interrogation, Police Commissioner A N Roy said.
Riaz Siddiqui was arrested from Millat Nagar locality in North-west Mumbai, while Naeem Khan was held after he arrived from Dubai.
Roy said Naeem was already wanted in the Pradeep Jain murder case while Siddiqui's name had cropped up for the first time during Salem's interrogation.
Although Roy did not disclose the exact roles played by the duo in the Pradeep Jain murder conspiracy, the police commissioner said both had a major hand in Jain's murder plot.
Police sources said that both acted as conduit between Salem and businessmen to run the extortion racket.
