Mumbai: The Bombay High Court today issued notice to filmstar Sonali Bendre in a case of alleged obscenity.

The Maharashtra government has appealed in the high court challenging the lower court order of discharging the film star and three others in the case and urged for quashing of the lower court order.

According to government pleader Vitthal Konde-Deshmukh, Justice A M Khanwilkar today (December 13, 2005) issued notice against the filmstar and three others.

Sonali and three others were booked in a case of alleged obscenity filed by the city police. The actress had allegedly posed semi-nude on the cover page of a magazine, `Showtime' in March, 1998.

She was arrested along with photographer Amit Ashar and dress designer Ashley Rebello by the Social Services branch of city police on March 27, 2001.

Another accused in this case is the publisher of the magazine Neelkanth Giri.
