RJD MP Jaiprakash's criminal writ petition rejected Wednesday, December 14 2005 14:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
The Patna High Court today (Dec 14, 2005) rejected the criminal writ petition filed by absconding Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP and former Union Minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav challenging the non-bailable warrant of arrest against him issued by a Jamui court.
Justice Mridula Mishra, who had reserved her order after hearing the counsels of the defendant and the prosecution on Friday, pronounced the order to reject the petition.
A Jamui court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Yadav on October 24 in a case which charged him with effecting the 'illegal escape' of his brother and RJD nominee for Jamui Vijay Prakash from police custody on October 18.
Vijay had been arrested for moving around with firearms, huge cash and liquor bottles during the polling.
