Volcker report: Jagat Singh appears before ED

New Delhi: Jagat Singh, the son of former Minister Natwar Singh, today (Dec 15, 2005) appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with investigation in the findings of the Volcker report in the Iraqi oil pay-off scam.

Jagat's interrogation come after an ED team returned from a visit to Jordan and Iraq where they are believed to have collected details about bank transactions in 2001.

Spotlight: Volcker Report

Jagat had been summoned by the Directorate a few days back for questioning in the wake of allegations by former Ambassador to Croatia Aneil Mathrani that he was present in Baghdad at the same time as the official Congress delegation.

According to reports a huge amount of money was deposited in three banks in Jordan allegedly in lieu of oil from the Saddam Hussein regime.

Jagat had admitted that he had accompanied his father to Iraq in January 2001.
