Unidentified men fired rockets near a camp of Pakistan's paramilitary forces during a visit of President Pervez Musharraf in a remote town in south western Balochistan province today (December 15, 2005) witnesses and correspondents said.
No one was hurt in the attack at Kohlu town, 350 km east of the provincial capital Quetta where Musharraf addressed a public meeting and said he would not bow before terrorists.
Rockets were also fired in Quetta last night where he was staying. Musharraf arrived in Kohlu today at the end of his two-day visit to Balochistan.
A police officer said three rockets were fired in Kohlu near a camp of paramilitary 'Frontier Constabulary' and three others landed away from the city.
No loss of life or property was reported. An unidentified man called up news organisations in Quetta and claimed responsibility for firing rockets at Musharraf on behalf of separatist Baloch Liberation Army.
The rockets which landed near the Frontier Constabulary (FC) camp exploded with a bing bang and was heard in nearby areas.
Security personnel cordoned off the area after the attack. FC sources said that several unexploded rockets were also found near Kohlu.
Security was stepped up in Kohlu for Mushararf, and police as well as paramilitary forces were also deployed in the surrounding mountains. Two rockets were fired at the cantonment area last night when Musharraf was president in the city.
