BJP invites Madan Lal Khurana to Mumbai convention
Friday, December 16 2005 16:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has invited former Rajasthan Governor Madan Lal Khurana, who was briefly expelled from the organisation in July for his outbursts against party chief L K Advani, to its December 28-30 national convention in Mumbai.

An invitation letter for the event from party Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi addressed Khurana as 'senior BJP leader' and 'former Delhi Chief Minister.'

However, the veteran Swayamsewak, currently an ordinary member of the BJP, remains excluded from the invitees' list for the party's executive meeting scheduled in Mumbai for December 26-27.

When contacted, Khurana confirmed he did receive an invitation for the silver jubilee national convention of the party.

"I have received the invitation for the national convention in Mumbai. But I have not been invited to the executive meeting," he said.

In July, Khurana was expelled from the BJP after he publicly told Advani to apologise for the Gujarat violence the same way as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did for the 1984 riots.

He was expelled from the party for his comments, but was readmitted as an ordinary member after he expressed regrets for his remarks.

The BJP also did not invite him to its Chennai executive meeting in September.
