Volcker: Jagat appears before ED for the second day Friday, December 16 2005 11:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The questioning of Jagat Singh, the son of former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh, by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with investigations into the Iraqi oil pay-off scam continued for the second day today (Dec 16, 2005).
Jagat, who appeared before the ED for the first time yesterday, was questioned for over seven hours by a special team investigating the findings of the Volcker report in the Iraqi Oil-for-Food scandal.
His interrogation came days after an ED team returned from a visit to Jordan and Iraq where they are believed to have collected details about bank transactions in 2001.
Jagat had been summoned by the Directorate a few days ago for questioning in the wake of allegations by former Ambassador to Croatia Aneil Mathrani that he was present in Baghdad at the same time as the official Congress delegation.
Jagat had admitted that he had accompanied his father to Iraq in January 2001.
