Rajan's laptop shows real-estate interests in Mumbai
Friday, December 16 2005 11:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Mumbai Police have come across a laptop computer at the Tilaknagar residence of underworld don Chhota Rajan yesterday (Dec 15, 2005), which allegedly revealed information about the don's real-estate investments and interests in east Mumbai, police said.

"His investment could be to the tune of nearly Rs 20 crore in Tilaknagar alone", crime branch sources told sources here today (Dec 16, 2005).

The seizure took place during a two-day search operation conducted by the Mumbai crime branch at Rajan's house after his wife Sujata Nikalje was arrested under MCOCA on extortion charges on Wednesday.

"The laptop has a large number of data files that speak about the real-estate interests of Rajan in Tilaknagar and adjoining localities," the sources said.

A large number of documents were also seized during the searches, but sources said it would take time to decipher its content.

The data found in the laptop corroborates information on Rajan's involvement in real-estate business in east Mumbai, which the crime branch gathered following a one-and-half year long operation, they said.

Chhota Rajan, sources said, has reportedly plunged into the real-estate business in a big way, and chose east Mumbai since his gang had influence in these localities.

Also, a large number of dilapidated properties in Tilaknagar and adjoining areas are going in for redevelopment in a big way, making some areas of east Mumbai a lucrative real-estate investment destination, sources added.
