Varanasi: Bomb scare in Delhi-bound Farakka Express
Saturday, December 17 2005 10:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Varanasi: A bomb scare in Delhi-bound Farakka Express last night (Dec 16, 2005) held up the train at Jaunpur station, about 125 km from here, in Uttar Pradesh.

Jaunpur District Magistrate Anurag Yadav said the train, coming from Howrah, was stopped at Jaunpur outer station following an anonymous telephone call to Varanasi railway station that a passenger in an air-conditioned coach of the train was carrying a bomb.

He said the train was thoroughly searched by local police, GRP and dog squad for an hour but no bomb was found and the phone call turned out to be a hoax.

After the search, the train was allowed to proceed on its journey.
