Chennai: Expressing grief over the death of Union Power Minister P Sayeed, DMK President M Karunanidhi today (Dec 19, 2005) said the late leader had carved a niche for himself in the hearts of people as a lawyer, social worker, political leader and a minister.

"He served the country to the satisfaction of all sections of the people," Karunanidhi said in a telegram to Sayeed's wife.

Describing the late Sayeed as his good friend, Karunanidhi said Sayeed had knowledge of Tamil and also had command over a number of languages.

"He was elected to Parliament ten times, which is a splendid achievement," Karunanidhi said.
