India's Union Power Minister P M Sayeed dead

New Delhi: India's Power Minister P.M. Sayeed has died at Seoul in South Korea where he was undergoing medical treatment, according to information reaching here late yesterday (Dec 18,2005) night.

Sayeed, 64, was elected for 10 consecutive terms in the Lok Sabha from Lakshwadeep parliamentary constituency in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He was deputy speaker in the 12th and 13th Lok Sabhas.

The minister's body was being brought to New Delhi, the official at his home in New Delhi said.

The reports said Sayeed died of cardiac arrest at Seoul, where he was being treated for liver problems.
