Accused MP Ramswarup threatens to sue TV channel
Tuesday, December 20 2005 12:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Claiming that he has been wrongly implicated in the MPLAD scheme scam, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ramswarup Koli today (Dec 20, 2005) threatened to sue the Star News television channel for naming him in the 'Operation Chakravyuh' television expose 'without verification and inquiry'.

"I don't have any Personal Assistant named Om Prakash. My signature on the letter head is forged. The video tapes do not show me and I have been wrongly implicated. There should be an inquiry into this", an apparently enraged Koli told reporters here after the weekly BJP Parliamentary Party meeting here.

The party suspended another MP Faggan Singh Kulaste from the Parliamentary Party but decided not to take action against Koli as the video footage did not show him taking money.

Claiming that he was in Rajasthan House when the video was purportedly shot, he said, "I will be forced to move the courts against Star News as they telecast the programme without verifying the facts or making any inquiry".

"I don't sign on typed letters. For MPLAD scheme, I make the recommendation in my own writing", he said.

Maintaining that the people in his Bayana constituency of Rajasthan were 'hurt' by the allegations made in the television expose, Koli asked the channel to show his denial prominently.
