On a CBI plea, a TADA court today (Dec 20, 2005) extended the judicial custody of extradited gangster Abu Salem till January three in the 1993 bomb blast case.
Salem was produced amidst tight security in the TADA court of Judge P D Kode who remanded him further to judicial custody for a fortnight on a plea made by CBI prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.
Eighty six accused, including film star Sanjay Dutt, on bail, appeared before the court while 34 others lodged in central prison were produced in keeping with a judicial directive.
Salem is charged with supplying arms and ammunition to co-accused including Dutt.
The actor has denied the charges and witnesses who deposed against him also turned hostile. However, Salem has reportedly confessed to his role in the 1993 bomb blasts.
