No AIFB support if Cong continues anti-people policy
Wednesday, December 21 2005 16:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Dhanbad: Cautioning the Congress, All India Forward Bloc 15th national convention in a resolve said its support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) would not last long if it continued its anti-people policy.

"The fate of the UPA depends on the role of the Congress. The Left Front will continue its support to it as long as the UPA government at the Centre is run as per the common minimum programme", AIFB general secretary Debabrata Biswas told newsmen here yesterday.

Announcing that the party would work to speed up Left unity, which was the 'need of the hour', he said a committee comprising 67 left organisations' representatives had already been constituted for the purpose.

The Marxist Coordination of Committee of A K Ray, which has kept away from Left parties, were also welcome to join it, he said.

Earlier in a resolution, the party rejected the WTO agreement at Hong Kong as it would not serve the interest of the weak and developing nations.

It would demand a constitutional amendment to make it mandatory for the Government to secure a nod from the Parliament before signing any agreement for trade or other relations with a foreign country.

AIFB, the resolution said, would launch 'Reject WTO and Save India' campaign across the country.
