US, France agree on int'l civilian nuclear co-op

New Delhi: The US, Russia and France were among several countries who have agreed on the need for full international civilian nuclear cooperation with India, Government told the Rajya Sabha today (Dec 22, 2005).

Government has placed considerable importance on nuclear energy in its energy mix and is engaged in a dialogue with a broad range of countries including the US, Russia and France, Minister of State for External Affairs Rao Inderjit Singh said in a written reply.

He said the government is engaged in a dialogue with these countries and they have agreed on the need to have full international civilian nuke cooperation with India.

These discussions are ongoing, Singh said.
