Mumbai: Bollywood actor and Congress MP from north-Mumbai constituency, Govinda was booked on charges of assault and threatening a TV reporter at the actor's suburban Juhu office even as police said that the actor has apologised for the incident.

A female reporter of TV channel `Janmat' had gone to Govinda's office for an interview but reportedly later had a tiff with the actor, who allegedly assaulted her and forcibly took the tapes on which his interview was recorded, police said.

The reporter later lodged a complaint at Juhu police station. But according to DCP Amitabh Gupta offences mentioned by the TV reporter were of non-cognisable nature.

DCP Gupta said that offences for threatening and assault have been booked against Govinda, but there was no question of action against him due to non-cognisable nature of offences.

However, the actor later called up the complainant and apologised for the incident, he added.
