Definite improvement in Indo-Pak relations: Ahmad Saturday, December 24 2005 12:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bhubaneswar:
Asserting that there had been definite improvement in the atmosphere between the two neighbors, Pakistan's High Commissioner in India, Aziz Ahmad Khan yesterday (Dec 2, 2005) said that India and Pakistan could move forward on the Kashmir issue but must carry the people of Kashmir with them.
''We have to carry the people of Kashmir with us,'' he said adding that the visit of Hurriyat leaders to Islamabad some time ago was a positive development.
Speaking at 'Ehsaas' the 3250 Rotary district conference, here Aziz also expressed confidence about resolving the Siachen issue.
''We believe that it can be resolved,'' he said.
While Aziz said that Pakistan had demonstrated flexibility on the Kashmir issue and its approach was to think out of the box, he acknowledged that the Indian leadership,
too, was serious and referred to Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh's meeting with the Hurriyat leaders.
He said Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf had made it clear that his country's territory could not be used for launching terror attacks on India.
