Blatant mis-governance in Bihar, says Lalu Prasad Tuesday, December 27 2005 20:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Gopalganj (Bihar):
Breaking his silence over alleged deterioration in law and order, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad today (Dec 27, 2005) charged that the NDA had demonstrated 'blatant misgovernance' which was evident from the growing criminal activities in the state.
"The NDA, which has promised good governance, has unleashed blatant misgovernance. Misgovernance is visible at all the places," Prasad, also Railway Minister, told reporters after he met bereaved family members of slain RJD leader Jaiprakash Yadav here.
Four persons, including Yadav, were killed and five others critically wounded when gunmen fired indiscriminately at village Sonaula under Gopalpur police station in Gopalganj district last evening.
Prasad said that RJD sympathisers were being 'targetted and victimised' and felt that if the situation did not improve, his party would be compelled to embark on agitational programmes.
He demanded that the police arrest all those involved in the brutal killing of Yadav and others within a fortnight.
Adequate compensation should also be provided compensation to the bereaved family of slain RJD leader.
Earlier, RJD activists demonstrated with the body of Yadav and blocked the highway here demanding immediate arrest of the killers, besides adequate compensation to victim's family.
Majority of shops and business establishments remained closed in the town and vehicular traffic plied in depleted numbers.
