New Delhi:
Reacting to the digging out of skeletal remains from a mass grave in Gujarat by relatives of victims of post-Godhra riots, Congress today (Dec 28, 2005)accused state Chief Minister Narendra Modi of 'always attempting' to run the state instilling ' fear and social tension' among people.
"What had happened during the rule of Modi has lowered the image of India among the comity of nations. He always tried to create social tensions through his speeches. He tried
to run the state instilling fear among the people," All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Ambika Soni told reporters.
She was responding to media queries on the digging out of the skeletal remains from a mass grave in Panchamahal district of Gujarat.
Warning the Modi Government that his tactics would not work in the next Assembly polls, Soni said instilling fear may work once but would not last for long.
"Those who are brave will expose the misdeeds of the Modi Government, " she said.
She also referred to several observations made by Supreme Court against the Modi Government following post Godhra riots and the shifting of riot cases out of the state apprehending that free and fair trial was not possible in Gujarat under Modi.
