Advani flays Centre for Bangalore terror attack
Thursday, December 29 2005 14:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani today (Dec 29, 2005) flayed the Centre for the attack at the IISc in Bangalore and said internal security was the biggest failure of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government.

Advani also charged the Government with continuing talks with Pakistan despite growing incidents of terrorist attacks in the country.

"Such incidents have global effects, it distorts the image of upcoming business centers like Bangalore as a terrorist infested area. I am concerned with this attack," Advani said on the second day of the party's ongoing National Convention here.

Taking a dig at the Central Government, he said, "Internal security is UPA Government's biggest failure. But this is a policy failure. From last few days, such incidents of terrorist attacks are growing. Government should take note of this."

There was information that some terrorist attack may take place as extradited gangster Abu Salem was brought to the city to undergo brain-mapping and narco-analysis tests. But, the Sate Government failed to maintain vigil and this incident took place, Advani said.

"I have spoken to Home Minister Shivraj Patil and asked him to check despite the Centre's instructions why the State Government failed to comply with the situation," Advani said.

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) always maintained its primary demand of bringing an end to cross-border terrorism before commencing peace talks with Pakistan, he said. "But, UPA has given Pakistan assurance to continue these talks, whatever terrorist activities may take place in the country."
