B'lore attack: Home Ministry holds emergency meeting
Thursday, December 29 2005 12:17 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Union Home Ministry officials held an emergency meeting last evening (Dec 28, 2005) after the suspected militant attack on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore last evening.

The Institute has been on the hit list of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) and several alerts had been issued for safeguarding of the building earlier, official sources said.

The Institute came on the hit list of LeT after their last year's annual session in Muridke (Lahore) where they had decided to hit the country's economy by targeting vital installations, including the IISc.

The officials were also trying to ascertain whether underworld people had any role in yesterday's incident as main accused in the 1993 serial Mumbai blasts Abu Salem was in Bangalore to undergo the lie detector and brain mapping tests, the sources said.
