Hyderabad put on alert following Bangalore attack

Hyderabad: An alert has been sounded last night (Dec 28, 2005) in the state capital here following firing incident in Bangalore city.

"We have taken all precautionary steps and checking operations have been intensified in the city," police sources said.

In a suspected terrorist attack, unidentified gunmen yesterday barged into the premier Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore during an international conference and opened fire killing a retired professor of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and wounding four others.
