Salem subjected to lie-detector test in Bangalore Thursday, December 29 2005 12:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Extradited gangster Abu Salem was subjected to lie-detector (polygraph) test at Forensic Science Laboratory here yesterday (Dec 28, 2005) in connection with the Pradeep Jain murder case.
The test lasted around three hours, FSL sources said, adding, "Brain-mapping and narco-analysis tests will be conducted if necessary."
Earlier today, Salem, accompanied by the Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai, was flown in from Mumbai.
A Tada Court in Mumbai hearing the 1993 bomb blast case last week allowed ATS to subject Salem to undergo scientific tests in connection with the murder case.
Salem had given his consent before the Tada court to undergo the scientific tests.
ATS's intention to subject him to scientific tests is to get more clues from him on the involvement of other accused in the murder case.
The Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam had told the Mumbai Tada court that Salem had disclosed the names of certain persons who were part of his financial chain of collection and distribution of extortion money.
The scientific tests are intended to find out if Salem was telling the truth, Nikam had said.
