The case pertains to a theft at the Periyakudi Shiva temple in Mannargudi taluk on November 12, 2005.

Announcing this, DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan, in a statement, said Rajasekaran was issued a show cause notice. In his reply, Rajasekaran himself had admitted that standing surety for the Seer was not in tune with the party line. Hence he had been relieved from the party post, Anbazhagan said.
