Space institutes on red alert following IISc attack Thursday, December 29 2005 15:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Indian Space Research Organisation has sounded a red alert across its institutions in different parts of the country following the suspected terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus here, its Chairman G Madhavan Nair said today (Dec 29, 2005).
"ISRO has made all security arrangements and put on red alert. We are taking all feasible steps", Nair told sources here.
He termed last evening's daring attack outside the J N Tata Auditorium in the IISc campus as 'shocking' and 'highly depressing'. Targeting an educational and scientific institution, of all the places, is shocking, he added.
In a philosophical tone, Nair remarked, "In today's world, no body is safe".
Terrorists could have targetted Bangalore to grab national and international attention because the city has emerged as a major technology hub of the world, he averred.
