B'lore attack: Security tightened throughout TN Thursday, December 29 2005 12:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Yesterday's (Dec 29, 2005) terror attack on Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) in Bangalore, had its echo in Tamil Nadu also with security services being put on high alert throughout the state.
Thorough vehicle checks were being made at entry points into the state from Bangalore and Andhra Pradesh, police said.
Security has been beefed up at important places, including railway stations and Indian Institute of Technology here.
Police said throughout the night vehicle checks were carried out and even senior police officials were on duty.
Similar patrolling was done in the night on all the entry points into the city, they said.
Police said the state had already been put on high alert in connection with the visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakshe to the city. However, despite his visit being cancelled, the tight security was being continued.
