New Delhi: Delhi police today (Dec 30, 2005) registered a case of forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy against unknown persons in connection with the allegations leveled by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav that the telephones of his party General Secretary Amar Singh and other leaders were being tapped.

Denying the allegation, Joint Secretary (Internal Security) in Union Home Ministry L C Goyal told reporters here that the documents circulated in Lucknow as proof of the charge were forged.

"The Commissioner of Delhi Police and Principal Secretary Home Delhi Government have inquired into the matter and nothing has come out. Following this it seems prima facie a case of forgery and Delhi Police has registered a case of forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy," he said.
