Bangalore: Quick-response teams to be deployed Friday, December 30 2005 15:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Bangalore will have heightened security, including deployment of quick-reaction teams and additional force, on the eve of new year day, in the wake of Wednesday's (Dec 28, 2005) terror attack at Indian Institute of Science here.
"There will be heightened arrangements for the new year," Bangalore City Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh said today.
"We are going to deploy our quick reaction teams, mine-detection teams, bomb-disposal squads and detection-disposing squads," Singh said.
Police are also having some more security measures in mind but want to keep them a closely-guarded secret.
"Whatever measures can be done, I won't say what. I have (them) certainly in mind," he said.
Bangalore houses some of the top software and ITeS firms and has earned the reputation of being India's technology hub.
It's also home to the likes of Bharat Electronics Limited and Indian Space Research Organisation.
