Sonia dismisses BJP's mid-term poll projections Friday, December 30 2005 10:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Dismissing Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) projections of a mid-term poll, Congress President Sonia Gandhi yesterday (Dec 29, 2005) asked the saffron party to do some introspection on corruption within instead of levelling charges against her party.
In interviews to television news channels, she also expressed total satisfaction over the performance of the Manmohan Singh Government and said she had no regrets over not taking up Prime Ministership.
A day after BJP President L K Advani told his party convention in Mumbai that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition Government would collapse sooner than expected because of internal contradictions, Gandhi said, "I don't think so. I don't see this happening. I think we went into this coalition very consciously. We worked together on the Common Minimum Programme and later on with legislations."
She said the UPA Government would complete its five-year term 'definitely'.
Rejecting Advani's charge that Congress was the fountainhead of corruption, Gandhi said BJP has 'no moral right' to talk about corruption and asked the saffron party to do some introspection.
"I don't think they have any moral right to say anything (on corruption). They should first introspect and look within," she said.
