Venkaiah Naidu says he is Hanuman of the party Friday, December 30 2005 12:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
After Ram and Laxman, it is now the turn of Hanuman in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Senior party leader Venkaiah Naidu today (Dec 30, 2005) said he was the Hanuman of the party, referring to Atal Bihari Vajpayee's announcement to quit power politics and his describing L K Advani and Pramod Mahajan as the 'Ram-Laxman' duo yesterday.
Asked if he agreed with Vajpayee calling Advani and Mahajan as Ram and Laxman, Naidu told reporters today that there should be no problem for anyone with that. "On my part, I am the devoted Hanuman," he said.
"Whether Vajpayee or Advani remain in post, they will still continue to guide the party and we will continue to benefit from their guidance," he said.
When it was pointed out that Hanuman was said to have flown to bring the life-saving 'Sanjeevani' for Laxman when he was unconscious, the former BJP President just smiled.
